Department of Soil Conservation and Sustainable Land Management
With main research responsibilities in:
Determining the causes of and factors contributing to the formation of saline and sodic soils; selecting suitable soil amendments under different soil conditions; studying the effects of soil characteristics, water salinity, and soil and water management practices on soil drainage; finding the most suitable choices of crop production under saline, alkaline and sodic soil conditions; preparing desalinization and desodification curves for saline and sodic soils, based on different leaching methods; simulating various features of soil degradation under different climatic and production methods to estimate the extent of damage to land productivity; and determining degradation indices in various climatic conditions and farming practices.
