International Virtual Workshop in "Citrus Decline"
The international virtual workshop in “Nutrition Management Strategies in Citrus" was held on December 22nd and 23th, 2020, in line with the collaboration of ICAR affiliated institutes, India.

According to the International Relations Affairs of the Soil and Water Research Institute, an International Webinar Workshop of “Nutrition Management Strategies in Citrus" was held on December 22nd and 23th, 2020. Soil Fertility and Chemistry & Plant Nutrition Research Department of SWRI conducted this event in line with the comprehensive program for Recognition the Nutrition Management of Orchards to promote and transfer the findings regarding the nutritional management of citrus orchards.
In this two-day workshop, Prof. Anoop Kumar Srivastava, senior scientist at the Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, India explained the basics of citrus orchard nutrition management and presented the latest findings in orchard nutrition management.
Physico-chemical properties and limitations of root penetration in the soil and the necessity to pay attention to land suitability studies for the construction of gardens were important points of view. Prof. Anoop Kumar Srivastava showed scientific results about nutrition management effects on the achievement of financial profits. He also pointed out that new technique such as remote sensing and precision agriculture can enhance monitoring of nutritional status of soils.
The second lecture was conducted by Dr. Popy Bora, Senior Scientist at Department of Plant Pathology, Assam Agricultural University, India. Microbial Bioformulation techniques for disease management were explained. Disease management is one of the major challenges that have led to a significant economic decline in orchard production especially in the field of citrus orchards. Since a significant amount of pesticides and pesticides are used annually in citrus orchards, in addition to imposing economic costs for farmers, it also causes heavy and destructive damage to the environment. The use of these formulations is expected to address a significant portion of these concerns and promises significant success with the goals set by international research institutes and centers in this field.
At the end, Dr. Popy Bora provided practical examples of the use of this technique in disease management and future research areas and expressed the hope that the growing willingness of farmers and agricultural professionals to use environmentally friendly methods for agricultural and horticultural management, pave the way for the emergence of such new techniques.
On the second day of the workshop, Dr. Srivastava focused on the results and findings that he had made over his visit last year from the citrus orchards in Fars, Hormozgan, and Mazandaran provinces.
 Over this visit, he was accompanied by faculty members of the soil fertility and chemistry and plant nutrition research department (Dr. Majid Basirat, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehrani, and Dr. Seyed Majid Mousavi). Finally, he described the nutritional anomalies, management strategies, and mapping of research areas by region and province, as well as the prevailing cultivars in each region to address these challenges.
